Mary Ann Wydell, formerly of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2023, at the age of 94.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Wydell. She will be missed by her loving son, Craig; her daughter-in-law, Patricia; and her beloved granddaughter, Adriana. Mary Ann’s loving warmth and kindness will be grieved by all who knew her. She went out of her way to make sure her friends and family were taken care of, showing her care with visits, calls, cards and gifts. Each person was the center of her loving attention. Words will not fully capture the love she shared. The world was lucky to be able to experience her light for 94 years. Her light will shine on in all her friends and family and continue on in the future.
Born in Milwaukee on May 2, 1928, Mary Ann grew up in Milwaukee. She lost her parents at a young age, a tragedy that gave her a great sensitivity to the hardships of others. She married Ralph Wydell in 1948, and they soon moved to Wauwatosa. Mary Ann loved to garden; her yard was full of beautiful flowers and her home was lovingly decorated. She was an avid reader and a long-time member of a book group.
While raising her son, Mary Ann attended college part-time at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, eventually earning a degree in social work. In 1973 she was hired as a placement specialist with Job Service for the state of Wisconsin, where she helped the unemployed find jobs and assistance. She retired in 1990, but continued to work as a volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House for many years.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, from 1:30 to 2:30 PM, Chapel of the Chimes followed by a memorial service at 2:30 PM at Wisconsin Memorial Park, 13235 W. Capital Dr., Brookfield, WI. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Wisconsin (rmhc-easternwi.org) are appreciated.
