Survived by daughter Vicki Taylor; daughters-in-law Janet and Marsha Petersen; son-in-spirit David Leibman; spiritual son Loren Ritacca; AFS daughter from Finland, Elise Wasen; grandchildren Lynn Taylor, Jessica and Eric Ryles, Julie and Huy Tran, Leslie and Phan Phan, Christopher and Paige Petersen, Nathan Beck and Lisa Petersen; great-grandchildren Rebecca and Owen Ryles, Brynn Phan, Mackenzie Tran and many beloved friends.
Preceded in death by parents Loretta and Carl Scherer, husband Glenn, sons Rick and Larry Petersen, and son-in-law Douglas Taylor.
She was a devoted Baha’i since 1949, serving on Baha’i local administrative institutions, a Baha’i children’s class teacher of many years and made her pilgrimage to the Baha’i World Center in 1971. She encouraged her husband in using the Baha’i principle of profit sharing in his businesses.
She was a member of Phi Delta Delta sorority, keeping in contact with sorority sisters for over 65 years. She graduated with a B.S. cum laude from University Wisconsin Parkside in 1975 and was a member of order of Eastern Star. She headed a fund drive for American Red Cross, was a girl scout leader and cub scout secretary.
She was a painter receiving honorable mention in the WI Art Show in Twin Lakes in 1976. She enjoyed travel, genealogy, art, reading, swimming, museums, learning about nutrition and was concerned about racism, prejudice, discrimination, the environment and climate change.
