A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at 10:30 am at Church of Christ of Bridgeport with Pastor Jonathan Seng officiating. Casual dress, family is wearing Bronco or Husker attire. Bridgeport Memorial Chapel is assisting with services.
Ron was born on April 24, 1938 in Scotts Bluff County to Virgil and Madres (Watson) Douglass. He was raised in Lyman, Nebraska. He quit school to work at the age of 13. He farmed and ranched and drove truck.
He married Vivian Rose and to this union 6 children were born. The couple later divorced. He married Sandra Mott in 1989 and made their home in Bridgeport.
He worked in the coal mines in South Dakota in his younger years.
Ron drove for Pappas Truck for 10 years, worked for Bill’s Implement in Mitchell and Gary’s Implement in Bridgeport. Ron drove truck in all 48 states, Mexico and three Canadian provinces.
He collected model cars, was an avid Broncos and Husker fan and enjoyed sports.
Survivors include his children: Jim Douglass, Rob Douglass (Kim Wallace), Kristy (Shayne) Schuler, Tim (Jodi) Douglass; stepchildren Roger Cole, Gene Cole, Laurie (Randy) Banks; numerous grand, great grand and great great grandchildren; brother Dean Douglass and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, two brothers Larry and Clifford, sister Phyllis Albright, sons Ronald Jr and Bill, sister-in-law Betty Douglas, daughter-in-law Brenda Douglass and a nephew.
