Walter Joseph Lenard

Walter Lenard, Jr., age 84, of Nashville, Tennessee passed away Friday, December 17, 2021. He was born May 5, 1937 in Detroit, Michigan. Walt attended St. Rita High School, served in the United States Air Force at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, and earned a BBA from the University of Detroit. Walt was an avid sportsman and sports fan his entire life and encouraged his kids and others to participate in sports. He played and coached water polo when he was younger and swam competitively his entire life, finding great joy especially in his later years within the world of masters' swimming.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Marge Cavalier, parents Walter Lenard, Sr. and Rita Versaw Lenard, sisters Inez Silardi and Rita Miller, brother Bob Lenard, and stepdaughter Debbie Cavalier.

He is survived by his children Patti (Rich) Hollett of Roseville, Michigan; Sue (Rob) Baczewski of Navarre, Florida; Bobby (Roxanne) Lenard of Chesterfield Township, Michigan; Kim (Rob) Rovda of Washington Township, Michigan; Carolyn Cavalier (Sandy) Rosenberg of Oakland, California; and Cindy Cavalier (Tim) Trapp of Nashville, Tennessee; grandchildren Scott Lenard, Nicole Lenard, Ricky Hollett, Alex Rovda, Alivia Rovda, Lisie Rosenberg (Ellis) Clark, and Ben (Sarah) Rosenberg, great grandchildren Paige Lenard, Blake Lenard, and Ezra Rosenberg, many nieces and nephews, sister-in-law Linda Lenard, dear friends Chris and John McPherson, Aaron Fiske (who he considered his honorary grandson), and his Ensworth Acquatics Masters teammates who will miss him dearly.

A celebration of life was held on December 21st at his brother's cabin in Winchester, Tennessee where he loved spending time when not at the pool.
