John Joseph Hansom Jr., 73, Brentwood passed away on December 26th at his home. He was born August 7th 1949 to the late John Joseph Hansom Sr. and Jane Griffin. John attended Notre Dame and received a bachelor’s of arts of computer science in 1971
Jay held various tech-related positions over the years, including tech consulting for Price Waterhouse and founded and led Management Services Group, continuing his tech consulting career. He most recently was a managing director at CCA before retiring in 2015.
Jay was gregarious, social, fun-loving. He loved to share a good story. He was also determined, ambitious and entrepreneurial, starting his own business and organizing social events in college as well as family game nights when his children where young.
He was happiest when on the beach in Dustin, Florida or on the golf course with friends. He also loved to tinker in the kitchen, trying new and custom spices to perfect his chili and cheesecake recipes. He also enjoyed fried and smoked turkeys he made every holiday season. He also enjoyed watching sports, especially the Braves, Titans, Predators, and golf. He was an avid reader, and shared many books and recommendations with his daughter Catherine.
Golf was a huge part of Jay’s life, and he started playing when he was just a kid. He was almost always a member with a local club, including Temple Hills, Brentwood Country Club and Governor’s Club, for more than four decades.
He is survived by his son Chris Hansom of Phoenix, Arizona and Catherine Hansom of Cane Ridge, Tennessee, as well as his older sister Deanie Hansom Rohling of Franklin, Tennessee.
His daughter Catherine fondly recalls flying kites on the beach with her father when she was a little girl. His son Chris enjoyed golfing with him at the country club throughout his elementary and high school years. He always came to Catherine’s high school band competitions to support her, as well as the many different sports games Chris participated in.
Visitation with the family will be on Friday January 6, 2023 fro 11-1 PM with b urial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
