Hartland was born on March 31st,1951 in Montreal, Canada to Agnes and Ernie Monahan. He met his wife Linda Geoffrion at the Montreal Forum where he played as a member of the Junior Canadiens Hockey Club.
Hartland was a professional hockey player in the NHL for 8 years for California Golden Seals, New York Rangers, Washington Capitals, Los Angeles Kings, and the St Louis Blues. He then started a long and successful career at UPS where he worked for 26 years and impacted many lives.
Hartland is the epitome of humbleness and loyalty. Everyone who encountered Hartland always left better. His smile, laugh, or just conversation was always impactful. He leaves us with a huge void.
Hartland enjoyed golf, skiing, spending time with his grandkids and working on Ernieville (his father’s Christmas village that he took over.). He was passionate about them all and would chat about them daily.
He is survived by his wife Linda Monahan of 50 years, his mother Agnes Monahan, his two brothers Glenn Monahan and Kim Monahan of Montreal. His 2 sons Shane and Joey Monahan (wife Emily), his daughter Mechelle Burd (husband Stephen Burd), his 9 grandchildren Madison, Morgan, Sterling, Steele, Slaide, Stone, Mary Clare, Lydia and Yates.
Hartland has touched so many people’s lives that we would like for you to join us for his 2 celebrations of life.
