Mr. Ernest Clay Shockley, age 86 of Brentwood, TN passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2022, surrounded by his children. Ernie was born March 22, 1936, in Sparta, TN to the late Eston Bentley and Blossom Gist Shockley.
Ernie received a bachelor’s degree from Tennessee Tech and retired from a lifelong career at AT&T. He was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Nashville, TN.
Ernie was a big man with a tender heart. He loved, he laughed, he cared, he taught, and he was always there when you needed him. Ernie loved baking, hunting, hiking at Radnor, and making new friends anywhere he went along his journey. But most of all, he loved spending time with family and friends. Ernie spread happiness often by sharing one of his homemade cakes, which would bring a smile to others and joy to his heart. Ernie will be remembered for so many things, but above all, he brought joy to the people around him and was a centerpiece to his family.
He is survived by son, Scott Shockley of Brentwood, TN, daughter, Allison (Gary) Bailey of Brentwood, son, Stuart Shockley of Brentwood, TN., and grandchildren, Lawson, Bentley, Austin, Chase and Charlee.
Many thanks for the love and support from good friends Dave Cook, Paul Scarlett, Tom Glass, Doug Gray, Ron Koesler and so many others.
A gathering of family and friends with the Shockley family will be held Monday, August 22, 2022 at the Brentwood-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home from 4 o’clock in the afternoon until 7 in the evening.
