Sadly, on January 5, 2024, Yoshiko E. Roaché beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and relative, passed away peacefully in the presence of her devoted husband of 66 years, Ronald Roaché, known to most as “Sonny.”
Yo, as she was known, passed away at her home after a long battle with dementia. She was born in Tokyo, Japan on January 23, 1937, to Yonekichi and Mitsue Enomoto. Yo was raised in Tokyo with her two sisters, Keiko and Kayako and was educated in Tokyo, graduating with an Associate’s degree. She and her life partner, Sonny, were married in Tokyo on May 29, 1957. After initially remaining at home to raise her two sons, Ronald and Jerome, she began a successful career at the Library of Congress. In later years, she and Sonny were seldom apart.
Some of her favorite hobbies included crafting, gardening, traveling, and spending time with her family. Yo is survived by her loving husband, Sonny, her two sons Ronald II and Jerome, her grandchildren April, JT and Marissa, two daughters-in-law, DeAndra and Lynn, and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Inova LJ Murphy Children’s Hospital.
Viewing will be held at Fort Lincoln Funeral Home, Brentwood, MD on Friday, February 2 at 10:00 am followed by the Memorial Service at 11:00am and the repast at noon. Interment will take place on Saturday, February 3 at noon in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, MD.
