Born Sara Belle Wilson, on September 18, 1933 was born to the late Reverend George Hayes Wilson and Laura G. Wilson. She was the youngest daughter of 12 children and was born and raised in Coatesville, PA. Sara Belle attended James Adams Elementary School, also attended Horace Scott High School where she graduated in 1953.
Sara Belle Wilson met and fell in love with James Walter Johnson. They were united in matrimony on September 27, 1958. Sara Belle and James Johnson then moved to Washington, DC. Sara Belle and James Johnson have been affectionately married for 63 years.
Sara Belle started her career as a dietician for Veteran’s Medical Center in Coatesville, PA and then transferred to Washington, DC. After serving in the Federal Government for 35 years; she retired for 1 year doing what she loved, watching her stories. Sara Belle was bored at home and subsequently served Safeway for 25 years. She finally retired on April 20, 2019 at the loving young age of 86.
Sara Belle became a soldier for the Lord and her savior Jesus Christ at a very young age. She loved listening to her gospel music every day. She was a member of St. Stephen Baptist Church in Temple Hills, Maryland. Sarah Belle relocated to Lincoln DE where she joined New Genesis Rock of Love. Sara Belle’s favorite scripture is the 23rd PSALM
Sara Belle’s favorite pass time was watching her stories Washington Football Team, shopping, cooking, cleaning, and most of all taking care of her family and others. Sara Belle displayed to everyone how to be humble, kind, excellent work ethics, and a loving human being.
Affectionately and loving known as Mrs. J. Johnson, Grand-Mom, Aunt Sara Belle, Sara and Mom to a host of neighbors, family and extended family members. Sara Belle unconditionally loved everyone.
Sara Belle Johnson, 88, sunset on December 16, 2021. GOD called her home and said to Sara Belle, “EXECEPTIONAL JOB WELL DONE. YOUR JOURNEY HAS BEEN REWARDED.”
Sara Belle Johnson is survived by James W. Johnson, Ricardo Johnson Sr. (Linda Johnson), Laurette A. Wilson-Carter (Aronzo S. Carter - Deceased); Dupree Johnson (Roslyn Johnson). Grandchildren – Trena Johnson, Toby Johnson, Juan Johnson, Shereese Wilson, Ricardo Johnson Jr, Zamphere Johnson and Zechariah Johnson. 13 Great Grandchildren, 3 Great, Great Grandchild, In-Laws - Dorothy Harrell (Kelly Harrell deceased), Velmarine Massenburg (Jimmy Massenburg), Ruth Johnson (James E. Johnson deceased) and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Sara Belle Johnson is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Dorothy Jackson (Sister), Naomi Keys (Sister), Lillian Pittman (Sister), Laura Mae Wilson (Sister), Daisy Wilson (Sister), Elwood Wilson (Brother), Harlan Wilson (Brother), Franklin Wilson (Brother), George Hayes Wilson Jr. (Brother), Ralph Wilson (Brother), William (Billy) Wilson (Brother) and deceased children, Rosline M. Johnson (Daughter) Robert Williams (Son) and James Johnson Jr. (Son).
