Ruby Marie Woodson (Rita) departed on October 25, 2020 at the age of 77. Ruby was the fourth child out of ten. She accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. Ruby was a member of Sharon Baptist Church for many years. While serving at Sharon Baptist Church, she and her sisters form a choir called The Joyful Woodson Singers. The Choir would often travel to Lorton Prison to sing to the Prisoners. Many years later she left Sharon Baptist and joined the Independence Pentecostal Church of God. Independence Church paid for her take classes at a Theological College and later became an Evangelist.
Ruby leaves her memories to be cherished by her daughter Ruby Nweke, grandson Hakim Spicer and great grandson D’ Shon Washington, niece/god daughter Geneane Brown, three sister, Shirley Horton, Hazel Hill (Richard), Judith Woodson and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She is joined in spirit with her late son Kevin Woodson, late grandson Timothy Spicer, late parents Harrison and Maxine Woodson, sisters; Norma, Margaret, Odessa, Jacqueline Woodson, Brenda Brown, her only brother Leroy Woodson and a host of extended family members.
She was a very warm hearted, humorous, strong and courageous person. She didn’t hesitate to defend and protect the people near and dear to her heart. Don’t cross her though because she would definitely put you in your place. Ruby was a very giving person, she was a lot of fun to be around at family gatherings. She was always the last one to eat and the last one to leave. When she see you dancing she would get on the floor and try to out dance you. Even in her seventies (70s) she had her own unique style of dancing. She loved hanging around her nieces and nephews and they love having her around. Reflecting back on memories of her brings great joy and laughter to us all. The older she got the funnier she got. Her pre-existing and terminal illness didn’t stop her from having a great sense of humor.
Ruby”s favorite scripture - Proverbs 3: 5-6
Trust in the lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight
