James Edward Davis Jr. (Red), 79, of Lanham, Maryland, peacefully passed away, Friday, July 15, 2022, at the University of Maryland Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his family.
James was preceded in death by his father James Davis, his mother Elouise Chestnut Davis and brother William Earl Davis.
James was born in Duplin County, North Carolina to James and Elouise Chestnut Davis. He graduated from high school in 1960. James worked at the Mt. Olive Livestock Market as a long-distance truck driver in Mt. Olive, North Carolina. Later he worked in Grofton, Connecticut as a steel worker building submarines. He owned a farm and raised hogs. He loved cars and helping others.
He believed that we are supposed to share our blessings with the unfortunate. His giving heart led him to his wife Eliza Bryant, where they met over a broken car that he fixed.
James is survived by his wife of 35 years Eliza; stepsons Dante, Anthony, and Phillip; one granddaughter Ava; three brothers Charles Lee, Lorenzo “Turtle”, and Johnny; three sisters Daisy Lee, Delores, and Mary; and a host of relatives.
