Dorothy was born in Emporia, VA, on March 13, 1949 to the late Caswell, Sr., and Wilton Fleming. She attended Greensville County Public Schools. Dorothy married Richard Robinson, Jr. on March 10, 1972.
Dorothy was an extremely hard worker, moving to Washington, DC where she enrolled in job readiness programs that lead to working for the federal government for over fifteen years. When her health began to decline, she pursued less stressful employment within her community. Dorothy was a member of Matthews Memorial Baptist Church in Washington, DC until her passing.
Dorothy was a loving woman who helped everyone to the best of her ability. She shared and sacrificed to help others and was affectionally known as “Aunt Dot” to many. She was known for her wonderful dance skills and love of all genres of music. She enjoyed bowling, watching western movies and her favorite TV show of all time, M*A*S*H. Her TV was tuned to this program All. The. Time!
Dorothy taught her daughter, Jacqueline (Jacquie) the value and importance of education, hard work, and self-sufficiency. She exposed her to the theater, classic movies, and music, especially “Oldies but Goodies”. The joy of her life was her grandson, Karron. Dorothy loved cooking his favorite foods for Sunday dinners, and afterwards, watching her favorite NFL team, The Washington Redskins. The arrival of her great-granddaughter (Karina) added an extra blessing of love and joy to her life.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Jacquie, grandson Karron;, and great-granddaughter Karina. Sister Mary Thomas (Roy), brother Charles Fleming, Godson Dalonte Jackson, long-time friend Thelma Trotter, and a large extended family including sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Preceding her in death, husband Richard Robinson, Jr., parents Wilton and Caswell Fleming, Sr., siblings Caswell, Jr., Nannie, James, Joe, William, Wendell, Linda, and Joan.
A visitation for Dorothy will be held Friday, May 5, 2023 at 9:30 AM at Fort Lincoln Funeral Home, 3401 Bladensburg Rd, Brentwood, Maryland 20722. A celebration of life will occur Friday, May 5, 2023 at 10:30 AM, 3401 Bladensburg Rd, Brentwood, Maryland 20722. An interment will occur Friday, May 5, 2023 at Fort Lincoln Cemetey, 3401 Bladensburg Rd, Brentwood, Maryland 20722.
