Cedric Wilson Brown Jr. passed away unexpectedly on Friday August 2, 2024 at the age of 33.
Cedric is survived by his father, Cedric Wilson Brown Sr; his wife, Rowoli Brown (Roli); and his children, Cedric Brown III (Trey), Raerumi Brown (Rumi). He is predeceased by his mother, Gwendolyn Veronica Brown (Sissy); paternal grandparents, Wilson and Bernice Brown; and maternal grandparents, Joenathan and Katherine Irby.
Cedric was born on October 27, 1990 in Philadelphia to Cedric Wilson Brown Sr and the late Gwendolyn Veronica Brown. They both instilled in Cedric his educational abilities at an early age. Cedric was educated in the parochial and private school sector, as his parents only wanted the best for their only son. In 2013 he graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor’s in Bioengineering, and he worked as a bioengineer for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). He later graduated in 2017 with a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Maryland. On May 18, 2019, Cedric married Roli, his college sweetheart that he met his freshman year at the University of Pittsburgh. On February 18, 2020 and June 13, 2022, he welcomed his son and daughter, who were the light of his life.
Cedric was a great son, a great friend, an amazing husband, and a devoted father.
CJ, as he was affectionately known to his family, enjoyed all types of sports. He loved talking football with his mom, and while growing up in Philly, his dad never failed to take him to a practice or game whether in-state or out of state. He played many sports; he was really good at baseball, but dominated at playing ice hockey. Even after he stopped playing ice hockey for the University of Pittsburgh, he still very much enjoyed watching the sport, amongst many other sports. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan; he rooted for the Eagles, 76ers, and the Philadelphia Union. Cedric also had a very vast collection of soccer jerseys, as that seemed to be one of his favorite sports to watch.
Ced, as he was fondly known to his friends, loved socializing with many people from all walks of life. He loved bringing people together. As one of the founders of an all male, minority engineering group called the Pitt Brotherhood, he helped guide young men into the future leaders of tomorrow. He also loved sneakers and fashion; he found a group of likeminded men, in an online Nike shoe forum, that he created strong bonds with over the years. Cedric also had a vast collection of sneakers.
Cedric loved to travel. He had a collection of popsicle sticks that he and his wife, Roli, wrote desired destinations on. Cedric and Roli managed to travel all over the globe: the Netherlands, France (where he proposed), Taiwan, The Bahamas, Portugal, Ireland, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and Honduras. He was an adventurous soul, and the best travel partner anyone could ever ask for.
Cedric was a jack of all trades. He loved to travel, collect, cook (he also had a collection of cookbooks), watch sports, play sports, but most of all he loved investing his time and energy into his children. Hours were spent looking for the best books, clothes, educational tools, toys, and activities for his children. He wanted them to have the best, and he truly gave them the best.
Cedric’s legacy of love, friendships and traditions will live on through his loving wife, Rowoli Brown; his two children, Cedric Brown III and Raerumi Brown; his loving father, Cedric Wilson Brown Sr; his loving bonus Mom, Linda M White; his in laws, Rita Scott-Emuakpor and Tony Lawson; his uncles, Jamin Mohammed and Rodney Brown; lifetime close friends; and a host of loving cousins, family, friends and coworkers. He will be missed deeply.
A funeral service is scheduled for 12:00 PM (there will be an 11:00 AM viewing) on August 25 at Fort Lincoln Funeral Home at 3401 Bladensburg Rd, Brentwood, MD 20722.
