Anthony Ellsworth Frazier

December 27, 1952 – November 15, 2024

Anthony Ellsworth Frazier, affectionately known as “Tony”, was born on December 27, 1952, in Washington, DC, to the late Thelma Onley and Elwood Frazier. He was educated in the District of Columbia Public Schools and proudly graduated from Spingarn High School in 1969.

At the age of 19, Tony began his career at the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) as a Metrobus Operator. He dedicated many years of service to WMATA, where he worked diligently until his retirement January 1, 2003.

Tony was blessed with three children, Noreen, Kevin, and Corban, from a previous union. In 1977, he met his lifelong companion, Lynnda Stewart. The two married in 1993, and through their union Tony inherited daughter Sherron Mason, into his life.

In his leisure time, Tony enjoyed binge-watching his favorite TV show (Family Fued), often accompanied by a Miller High Life. A passionate Washington Redskins/Commanders fan, he lived for football season. If his team was winning, he could be found glued to the TV, cheering them on. If they were losing, you could loudly hear him outside the house passionately coaching as though he was on the sidelines.

In 2016, Tony was diagnosed with COPD. Despite his battle with the illness, he maintained his strength and spirit. On Friday, November 15, 2024, Tony peacefully transitioned at Sibley Memorial Hospital.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Lynnda; his four children (Noreen, Kevin, Corban, Sherron); eight grandchildren (Peyton, Katrina, Anthony, James, Alyssa, Darien, Kierra (Maurise), Brittany); six great-grandchildren (Kennedi, Maurise Jr., Kroix, Knico, Blaze, Stormi).

Tony was preceded in death by his siblings, Tawana, Elwood, Derrick, Loiscene, Barry, and Marlon. He is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, friends, and three best friends, Billy Gay and Stephen Turner “Truck”, and Richard Lee, who remained by his side throughout his life.

Tony will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His humor, passion, and unwavering love for family and football will forever live on in our hearts.
