Alan graduated from the University of Maryland with a Master’s in Education. In 1953 he married Lucille Keller and within weeks left for Germany to serve two years in the Army during the European occupation He taught Industrial Arts in Montgomery County Schools and ended his career as Administrative Assistant to Area Superintendent of Schools. He moved to St. Mary’s County after retiring.
Alan loved the Sunday funnies, auctions, collecting and repairing slot machines, and dreaming of once more owning a Packard automobile. We will miss his sense of humor, inquisitive mind, intellectual curiosity, and his ability to repair just about anything. His only regret in life was not flying in the Concord to see the curvature of the earth.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother. Survivors include two nieces and one nephew, four great nieces, four great nephews, and four great-great nieces and six great-great nephews
Visitation and committal service on June 14, 2024 from 10-12 at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood Maryland. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Maryland Food Bank in memory of Alan’s late wife, Lucille Keller Keeny.
