Melissa was one of the strongest, bravest, funniest, most charismatic and beautiful people that you would ever meet. Melissa had a love for many things shoes, purses, clothes, Starbuck's and Beyonce. She truly loved her family and friends. She loved to spend all of her time with the people she was closest to and always spoke so loving about them. She would tell stories about how crazy her little cousin and her mom were and she would smile and laugh. She was always smiling and laughing, if you were angry, sad, or upset she would have this way of making you feel better with her happy spirit and charming smile. She would laugh about everything and anything, and definitely had her own language. She was a jokester. Nothing ever really brought her spirit down. If she was going through a hard time she would just turn to her friends and family for strength and she would power through with as much sass and class as she possibly could manage.
She was also very adventurous and persistent. If she wanted to do something and made up her mind that was it. Melissa was a beautiful person inside and out, she loved to dance, sing (badly at the top of her lungs), and just loved to have fun. Melissa was a Fashionista and had her own style and didn’t care what anyone thought of it, she was always well put together and had a deep love for PINK.
Sometimes she could be very stubborn and hard headed and when she got like that we all knew what to expect. She would wait until she was done being upset then call you like nothing happened (it didn’t matter who was at fault). A 2000 graduate of Alhambra High School in Martinez, Melissa excelled at many things. Most recently she obtained her Associate Of Art Degree from Diablo Valley College and planned to pursue a career in nursing. Melissa also attended Los Medanos College and Cal State East Bay, Hayward. She enjoyed helping others, volunteering at John Muir Medical Center and various organizations. She was also a lover of pets especially her dog, Honey. She is survived by her mother Carolyn S. Fernandez, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Melissa's beautiful and special life ended on Monday, March 11, 2013. Melissa will always be loved and remembered by her family, friends and those who knew her.
