Robert White Sr., affectionately known as Bob, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2020. His service will be held on Saturday, July 18th at 1 PM at Miller Woodlawn Funeral Home. He was born to Lawrence White Sr. and Augustine White in Bremerton, Washington on June 19th, 1955.
Bob was nothing less than a legend in our community and in our family. He has lived in Bremerton, Washington his whole life, setting roots in Navy Yard City with his wife, Shirley, three children, Talia (Eric), Cheree (Jamar) and Robert, and five grandchildren, Brittany, Mariah, Aiana, Jamier and Javon. And during his coaching years, he offered his house as a home for his players that needed a roof over their head. Anyone who knew Bob would agree that he wasn’t very outgoing or chatty-- but his love for his children, and those young men on the field who he treated as his children, know for certain that his heart was full of love, had no fear, and was brave.
He coached football for Chico and Silverdale Pee Wee’s for over 30 years. Football was what Bob was most passionate about, as he played in high school, went semi-pro which caused an extreme knee injury, in which he was redirected to be the Head Coach where he won championship after championship. His mentorship and confidence in his players played a tremendous role in the success of his team. He was tough on them but assured them that he always believed they could achieve greatness.
He worked at the Bangor Trident Refit Facility in Shops 36 and 21 since 1983.
Bob also had a surprisingly consistent and remarkable relationship with luck, as he traveled daily to different convenient stores for his Daily Numbers and won often. The next time you buy one, say a prayer for Bob and his luck might carry over to you.
Bob was preceded in death by his father and his brother Lawrence Jr. He is survived by his loving wife Shirley, his children, Talia, Cheree and Robert Jr., and his grandchildren, Brittany, Mariah, Aiana, Jamier and Javon.
