Bob passed away peacefully on February 17, 2022 at the age of 86. He was born in Elko, Nevada on January 30, 1936 to Bob and Della Johns. Bob graduated from Elko High School in 1954 and married Sandra Evans on June 18, 1960.
Bob and Sandra moved with their first two children to Bremerton, Washington where they owned and operated the Arctic Circle restaurant from 1964-1972. He lived in the Manette area of Bremerton for over 57 years.
Bob then went to school to learn the furnace repair trade. He worked for several local HVAC companies before retiring.
He was a proud life member of the Elks Lodge which he joined in 1959. He and Sandra enjoyed dancing and country western music, antique collecting, watching all the Seattle Sport teams as well as Gonzaga basketball. He was a true gentleman and had many friends.
Last September he published a book he wrote titled DON’T FENCE ME IN. It is a collection of stories about his youth and ranching in Elko County. He loved to tell a good story!
Bob is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, Sandra, his four children; Allison (Butch) Johns, Angela Johns, Maria (Mike) Mattson, Will (Amber) Johns, his 8 grandchildren; Josh (Chrissy) Rinehart, Jordan (Tom) Bushor, Jacqui (Travis) Hightower, Jovan (Dylan) Bushor, Hannah Mattson, Natalie Mattson, Brandon Johns, Lindsey Johns and his 5 great grandchildren; Alex and Ariana Rinehart, Thaiden Ebenal, Apollo and Aidan Hightower. He has one brother, Bill Johns of St. Anthony, ID and one sister, Norma Rizzi of Winnemucca, NV.
No services will be held at this time. Bob’s ashes will be scattered in Nevada later this summer. If you wish to share a memory about Bob, please do so below.
