Pete served in the US military in the Army Air Corp (preceding the formation of the US Air Force) from 1943 to 1946. He served as an Airplane and Engine Mechanic with Squadron 3 during World War II. Pete was responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of various aircraft, the B-17, B-24, B-25 and B-26. He also did major repair on army vehicles. His professionalism and excellence earned him the distinction of being classified as “one of our Nation’s finest soldiers.”
On January 5, 1961, Peter Myers was united in Holy Matrimony to Ellie M. Smith. From that union, they have two children, Sandford Myers, of Bremerton, WA, and Ellena Myers Huffman (Edward) of Puyallup, WA. The Myers have three grandchildren and two great grand children. Pete leaves behind one brother, Herbert (Jessie), and one sister, Mildred.
Pete worked for the Washington State Ferries where he retired after 30 years of service.
Mr. Myers was a faithful member of Faith Temple Church of God in Christ, in Bremerton, WA, where he served as Senior Deacon for 29 years. Deacon Peter Myers was loved by many, and will be dearly remembered.
The home going service will be held at Faith Temple Church of God in Christ, 2814 Trenton Avenue NE, Bremerton, WA 98310, Monday, July 24, 2017, at 11 AM.
