Michael D. Mooberry was born in Wenatchee, Washington, on March 3, 1940, to William Alfred and Blanche Harriet (Ogle) Mooberry. He was raised in Waterville, WA, where he graduated from Waterville High School in 1958. Following graduation, Michael enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed at Treasure Island, California. In 1960, he married Marjorie Leander. After his honorable discharge, Michael and Marjorie returned to Waterville, where they settled and welcomed two children, Michelle D'Ann and Mark Daniel Mooberry.
In 1968, the family moved to Wilbur, Washington, where Michael began working for the Washington State Highway Department. His career with WSDOT later brought him to Silverdale, Washington, where he would remain for the rest of his life.
After his time with WSDOT, Michael embraced a variety of jobs, each reflecting his love for learning and dedication to hard work. He worked as a sous chef in a downtown Seattle restaurant, served as a 2nd cook on NOAA ships, owned a lawn service and home repair business, and even enjoyed work at a Christmas tree farm. Known for his quick wit, artistic spirit, and kindness, Michael was a cherished friend to the community at Stagecoach RV Park, his home for over 30 years.
Michael is survived by his daughter, Michelle Gerard; nieces Carolynn Slocum and Kristie Cafaro; nephews Chris Mooberry and Shane Wilsey; and many extended family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Mark Mooberry, granddaughter Ryan Gerard, sister Shan Wilsey, brother Patrick Mooberry, and nephew Scott Wilsey.
Michael will be laid to rest with military honors at Tahoma National Cemetery. His presence will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
