Marilyn Louise Avery, 64, beloved daughter, sister, aunt & friends passed to Heaven peacefully August 10th, 2013 @ 6:10 PM due to complications of Marfan Syndrome, in the Harrison Memorial Hospital Hospice Palliative Care. She was surrounded by her father Bruce Avery, brother in law & sister Earl & Sharon Avery Lenhart, her nieces & nephews (including nephew Derek on Skype in Texas) family friend Katie Bowen, Hospital Chaplain, 2 special nurses Eric & Jeanine. For inform: 360-373-0914 Marilyn was born premature on Feb. 23rd, 1949 at Harrison Memorial Hospital, to Bruce & EvLeen (Edmund) Avery. She was born with Marfan Syndrome which weakens & affects the connective tissues, including ocular, joints, cardiovascular/aortic valve.The combination from birth compromised her physical health throughout her entire life. Marilyn battled life long physical health challenges. She is now healthy & whole in Heaven with her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, extended family & friends. Marilyn's Corneas were donated to *SightLife to benefit the sight of others.One of Marilyn's main health issues was her sight. As a child Marilyn had cataract & other surgeries. Marilyn had corrective eye surgeries for detaching retinas in 1992 and 1993. Marilyn suffered unexpected Aortic Dissection in 2001 & lived due to prayers & the UW Medical Center. Marilyn is survived by her father Bruce Avery, brother in law & sister Earl & Sharon Avery Lenhart,(all 3 the family home, Bremerton), nieces & nephews in order of birth: Derek Avery (Sophia) Brown (Texas) Justin Avery Brown, (Seattle), Andrew Avery Brown, (Seattle), Caitlin Faith Brown,(Bremerton) Joshua Avery Brown (Bremerton) and AZ3 (AW) Anastasia " Annie" Hope Brown, (North Island Calif./USS John C. Stennis) Grand nephews Cody James (Bremerton) and Max Amir Brown, (Texas). Marilyn was preceded to Heaven by her mother EvLeen (Edmund) Avery, (2009) her brother Timothy Bruce Avery, (1952), special great Aunt Louise Edmund, 2 sets of grandparents, & list of special aunts & uncles. Marilyn attended schools in Bremerton, graduating from West High School in 1967. Following her graduation she took 1 year of Olympic College Business School. Marilyn took 6 years of piano lessons. Marilyn was active in the Brownie & Girl Scouts. During high school, Marilyn participated in the School Choir and Home Ec. Club. Marilyn & her family were active members of the First Presbyterian Church, now Lincoln Ave. Bible Church located Lincoln Ave, Bremerton. Marilyn made public confession of her faith through water Baptism in 1960. She became member of First Pres. (LABC) Church in 1963. Growing up years Marilyn was active in the various church youth programs & activities. Marilyn was active member of Emmanuel Bible Church, Seattle, for 25 years. Marilyn moved back to Bremerton, living with her parents, helping in the home. She cont. to live back & forth between the two families in Bremerton & Edmonds, WA. Marilyn's parents were active members of Sylvan Way Baptist Church. She attended SWBC when she was residing in Bremerton. After Business School Marilyn started with Sea First Bank, 1968, followed by the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard Feb.1969-Dec. 1972, (Bremerton) and finishing with Ticor Title Insurance Co. of Calif., then owned by Chicago Title Ins. Co., located in downtown Seattle, WA. 1973 - June 1987. Marilyn moved to Seattle, WA. summer of 1973. Marilyn lived on Queen Anne Hill, Seattle 1973-1988. After working 20 years, due to health issues, Marilyn was no longer able to work outside the family home. Marilyn lived with family 1988-2013. 2009 Earl & Sharon Avery Lenhart moved into the Bremerton family home to help care with the family. Marilyn cont. to enjoy cooking & baking for the family. She & her father enjoyed together Christian, History, Science & other TV/Radio programs. She lived with family in the comfort of family home rest of her life. Marilyn was close with her nieces & nephews. Marilyn was there for the birthdays, special family, school & church events. They also shared & enjoyed Star Trek (Marilyn aTrekkie), Star Wars, & television shows Touched by an Angel, Little House on the Prairie. Marilyn & they also enjoyed detailed Lego sets. Friends of Marilyn's nieces & nephews also knew Marilyn. She was a familiar face in the home. Marilyn main Bible personality gift was server/serving. Marilyn’s hobbies were sewing, stitchory, arts & crafts, baking & extensive photo/scrapbooks. Marilyn made each niece & nephew their individual photo/scrapbook. She made each individual birth samplers. Marilyn remembered all of her extended family & friends with cards for birthdays, anniversaries, special events, holidays & more. Marilyn was an avid reader. She did puzzles & crossword puzzles. Marilyn kept an American Doll Collection, stuffed bear, coin & stamp collection. Marilyn supported a list of Christian Missions & organizations. The family hopes to bring awareness to Marfan Syndrome with updated medical research, preventive & intervention care. In lieu of flowers, the family ask donations given to the COTN Children of the Nations annual School Smile Packs or CEF (Kitsap) Child Evangelism Fellowship.
