Charlotte K Gordon

Charlotte was born in Everett, Washington, June 20, 1925 to Clifford and Gertrude Fischer. She was raised in Seattle and other Washington cities, and moved with her family to Bremerton in 1940. She met Robert J Gordon, the brother of her best friend, and they married May 6, 1944 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church. After Bob’s return from WWII they purchased a small home on Kitsap Lake. Completing two major remodels with the help of family and friends, they remained in that home until their death. Char worked at JC Penney’s for several years, but mostly enjoyed being a homemaker, raising her two sons and being a good neighbor. She loved the ever present family dog or cat. She was an excellent seamstress, sewing for her home and family, making one niece’s wedding dress and Barbie clothes for another. She was artistic, well organized, an avid reader and an impeccable dresser. She was a decisive woman who didn’t second guess herself. She loved her Irish heritage, celebrating St. Patrick’s Day by wearing green, setting a beautiful table and cooking the perfect corned beef and cabbage dinner for her family. She was an excellent cook, well known for her delicious meals, her sand tart Christmas cookies, the always-filled candy dish, and special cookies and chocolate in the kitchen cupboard for great grandkids. She followed Notre Dame Football. A cherished event was visiting the University. She was an avid Husky football fan, wearing purple, attending games or cheering from home. A highlight was standing for a picture beside Coach Don James, someone she greatly admired. She and Bob enjoyed RVing with best friends, with good memories of a 6 week trip to Europe, especially cherishing the visit to the Vatican with them. Char was a lifelong devout Catholic woman who cherished her family and friends, always concerned for our well being and remembering us in her prayers. Bob, her husband of 67 years, preceded her in death in 2011. She is survived by her sons Bill (Katie) and Steve, 5 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, her sisters Fran (Dick) Olson and Barbara Hannaford and loving nieces and nephews. Char was a woman small in stature, but had a huge impact on all our lives. Char, you can “rest now” like you always told us, knowing we will always dearly love and miss you.
