Betty Lockhart, 100 yrs, of Bremerton, passed into eternal life on October 12th, 2024, at Vineyard Memory Care.
She was born to Arnt and Rebecca (Monroe) Olson in Lynden on July 21st, 1924. She graduated Lynden High School in 1942 and moved to Bremerton, where she met and married John D Brice in 1943. They moved to Lynden where she raised 5 children. She also resided in Pt Townsend and Pt Ludlow. When John died in 1981 she later married Gordon Lockhart. They had wonderful years together until he passed away from heart conditions in 1992.
Betty worked as a waitress, in a jewelry store, and a bakery. During her time at the bakery – this is where Betty learned how to make beautiful cakes which she blessed family and friends with her amazing talent. She worked at Singer Sewing Co where she taught sewing and took this skill and artform into blessing family and friends with lovely quilts and much more. Betty was also a judge for sewing contests at the Local County Fairs. She also took her waitress experience and opened 2 restaurants.
Betty enjoyed family, Sylvan Way Baptist Church, sewing, quilting, printing and was a very dedicated fan of the Seattle Mariners.
Betty’s life was one lived with grace, courage and hard work. She was always caring for others.
Betty was preceded in death by husband, John D Brice 12/19/1981; husband, Gordon Lockhart 9/20/1992 and son-in-law Steve Oakford.
She was preceded by her siblings Robert Olson, Edward (Ladd) Olson, Jerry Olson, Caroline Blong, Alice Hardin, Joyce Albers, Ruth Kelly.
Surviving are her children, son John Dewayne Brice Jr., daughters Judith (Judy) and Eugene “Buzz” Johnson, Bonnie Oakford, Dixie and Robert “Craig” Brown, Jill and Allen Biffle, and grandchildren Heidi, Heather, Erik, Matthew, Robert, Janon, Leif, Isaac, Holley, Micah, as well as 14 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
