Audrey Lee Robinson, 85, of Bremerton, passed away on December 18, 2021 after a brief illness. She was born in 1936 to Aubrey W. and Eunice E. Morton in Seattle. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1954, and from the University of Washington in 1958.
After graduating with a degree in Elementary Education, Audrey taught third and fourth grades at Maple Leaf Elementary School in the Seattle School District for seven years.
In 1960, she met her future husband, James H. Robinson (Jim) at University Presbyterian Church in Seattle. They were married on March 20, 1965. After getting married, Audrey moved to Bremerton, where her husband had established a commercial building contracting company in 1962.
A lifelong active member of the community, Audrey was a member of Summit Avenue Presbyterian Church for more than 55 years, where she was the choir director for 24 years, and served as a deacon. She was a member of the CU Chapter of P.E.O. for 43 years. Audrey was a Bluebird group leader when her daughter was in Camp Fire Girls, and volunteered in classrooms at Crownhill Elementary School.
Audrey was a talented pianist and organist. She accompanied choirs, numerous musical performances at Crownhill and Naval Avenue Elementary Schools, and played piano at her P.E.O. meetings. She loved to sing and performed with both the Madrigal Singers at the University of Washington, the Bremerton Symphony Chorale, and the Summit Avenue choir.
In her spare time, Audrey loved to create a colorful garden, raising beautiful dahlias, fuchsias and petunias, often in shades of pink and purple. She loved a good adventure and traveled to dozens of countries over six continents. Later in life, she and Jim spent many summers happily sailing in the San Juan Islands and Canadian Gulf Islands. Audrey had a love for animals, and alongside her beloved pets, she had a knack for rescuing many animals along the way. She also will be remembered for her thoughtful correspondence with family and friends, never missing the opportunity to send a card celebrating a birthday, anniversary or a graduation.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheri (Ron) Lunt; grandson, Ryan; her sister, Janice; and niece, Lindsay. Audrey was preceded in death by Jim, her husband of 48 years; her parents; and her brother, Jim.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Summit Avenue Presbyterian Church. If attending in person, please RSVP to Summit Avenue at (360) 377-2740.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to Summit Avenue Presbyterian Church at 403 South Summit Avenue, Bremerton, WA 98312.
