Sally A. Tenney, a devoted wife, loving individual and friend to so many, died peacefully while surrounded by her loving family and friends on July 25, 2016 at the age of 57 following a sudden illness. Sally was born in Brattleboro, VT on September 14, 1958; the daughter of Carl Alexander and Joanne Elizabeth “Betty” Tenney.
She was a resident of Brattleboro since 1958; graduating from Brattleboro High School in 1976. She received training as a nurse’s aide working at Linden Lodge. Her work experience in the Brattleboro area included Mama Peduzzi’s, Via Condotti, Hon Dynasty, Elliot St. Grocery and most recently Price Chopper.
On June 15, 2002, she married Tim Fosburgh in Brattleboro. Sally always put family first and enjoyed all of the holiday gatherings with aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She enjoyed life and laughed often. She knew how to connect with people and to make them immediately feel welcome. Sally loved to cook and made the best lasagna on the planet. Both Tim and Sally loved spending time together on the coast of Maine, particularly enjoying the sun and sand at Ogunquit Beach. Sally opened her heart to so many people who were fortunate enough to be enveloped by her kindness, compassion, and fierce loyalty. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her husband, Tim Fosburgh-Tenney of Brattleboro; two brothers, Carl Andrew Tenney and his wife Sheri of Manassas, VA and Shawn Eric Tenney and his wife Tina of South Burlington VT; three nieces, Heather Nicole, Ashley Anne, Alyssa Brooke and a nephew, Shane Alexander.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 5, 2016 from 4pm to 8pm at KER-WESTERLUND FUNERAL HOME, 57 High St., Brattleboro, VT. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 11am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Spofford Village Cemetery in Chesterfield, NH. A gathering of friends and family will follow, please bring a dish. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Rescue, Inc., 541 Canal St, Brattleboro, VT 05301.
