Bob was a lifelong Brattleboro resident. He was educated in the Brattleboro school system, graduating from Brattleboro High School, Class of 1947. Bob served his country in the U.S. Navy. He worked for many years for the New England Telephone Co., before his retirement in 1985. Bob was a tremendous athlete; he received the Diedrich Stolte Memorial Cup, for his aggressiveness and courage in athletic competitions. He was a 54 year member of the American Legion, lifetime member of the Elks Club, and a member of the Communication Local 2326. Bob enjoyed playing golf, fishing, hunting, skiing, riding his bike, and traveling with his wife, Marjorie. Bob will especially be remembered by his family as a great, husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
He is predeceased by two children, Shelia M. Pike Ferris in 1995 and a stillborn daughter; and a brother, Donald S. Pike.
He is survived by his loving wife Marjorie Pike of Brattleboro; a daughter, Sharon L. Pike and her fiancé Glenn M. Wallen of Brattleboro; a sister, Jean Fraser and her husband Jack of Norwich, VT; son-in-law, Rick Ferris and his fiancé Marcie Hogan of Brattleboro; a granddaughter, Bridgitte H. Ferris and her fiancé Jacob H. Bachant of Ashburnham, MA; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Burial will take place at Meetinghouse Hill Cemetery in the spring. The KER-WESTERLUND FUNERAL HOME, Brattleboro, VT has been entrusted with arrangements.
