Katherine R. (Zeno) Campbell, 93, of Brattleboro, VT crossed over to be with her loved ones, on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Applewood Rehabilitation Center in Winchester, NH. She was born in Huntington, VT on August 2, 1919, the daughter of the late Charles and Gertrude (Clapper) Zeno.
Katherine was educated in the Huntington school system. She worked as a school bus driver for the Town of Brattleboro for several years. She also was previously employed by Hotel Brooks as the head of housekeeping, Cell u Cord in Richmond, VT, the Brattleboro Retreat, and worked for Captain Mayo for many years as a housekeeper and chef for his family. Katherine enjoyed hunting, fishing, which she did right up until the end with her “best buddy” and granddaughter Karen Bacon, dancing, crocheting, gardening, was an excellent cook, was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Legion, Post 5, and was an avid bowler becoming the Vermont Senior Champion with a score of 273. Katherine’s greatest passion is life was her family. She enjoyed spending time with them at every family get together. She will be sadly missed by them all.
She is predeceased by her husband, Joseph “Vic” Campbell; a son, Ronald Blood, and twelve siblings.
Katherine is survived by two sons, Elwin Blood and his wife Joyce of Hinsdale, NH and Edwin Blood of Avenel, NJ; a daughter Brenda Howard of Putney, VT; numerous grandchildren; several great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
There were no calling hours. A Funeral Service was celebrated on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 10 AM at Ker-Westerlund Funeral Home, 57 High Street, Brattleboro, VT 05301. Burial followed at Meetinghouse Cemetery in Brattleboro. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Katherine’s name to the Applewood Recreation Fund, 8 Snow Rd., Winchester, NH 03470.
