Harry Arthur Morse, 85, passed away peacefully in his sleep with his family by his side on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Cheshire Medical Center in Keene, NH. He was born in Brattleboro, VT on January 12, 1931; the son of the late Alfred and Arline (Cudworth) Morse.
A life-long resident of Brattleboro, he attended local schools through 8th grade. He worked early in life to help support his family. On July 13, 1968, Harry married Laurine Zella (Bushey) in North Westminster, VT. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Harry enjoyed golfing with his family, hunting with his brothers, and fishing with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Brattleboro Country Club for 50 yrs. He liked the Red Sox and saw many old-time players at games in Fenway Park. “MacGyver” – was a nickname his son, James gave him because he could fix or make something out of anything. He loved talking about the Brattleboro he remembered growing up in and collected old Brattleboro postcards. He loved country music, especially Gene Autrey, Hank Williams and Yodeling Slim Clark.
Harry is predeceased by three brothers and four sisters.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Laurine Morse of Brattleboro; his daughter, Michelle Lee Morse of Brattleboro; his son, James Phillip Morse of North Springfield, VT; five grandchildren, Dalton, Jordan, and Heather Morse, Isaac and Nathan Nold; one great-grandson, Mayson Baker; his brother, Alfred Morse of Rowe, MA as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
As per Harry’s wishes, there will not be any services. A private graveside service will be held in the spring. The KER-WESTERLUND FUNERAL HOME, 57 High St., Brattleboro is assisting the family with arrangements. To honor Harry’s memory live your life with peace and harmony.
