Bernard Anderson Wood left our world too soon with his with his dearest friends and coworkers for over twenty years by his side. Born on August 7, 1955; the son of the late Harold and Beverly Wood of Dummerston, VT.
Bernie was employed at the Brattleboro Book Press, straight out of high school. He then went on to own and operate several garages and towing business, including, “Honest Woody’s”, where he mastered his skills in rigging, mechanics and welding. Bernie became a Millwright for Local Union 1121-Boston, MA. He worked at several stations and plants throughout Massachusetts before joining the team at Vermont Yankee Entergy, for 25 years. He received numerous accolades and certifications and formed a lifelong brotherhood with many of his colleagues. Bernie was a longtime member of the Free Masons in Brattleboro.
Bernie is survived by the love of his life, Claudia Wood; a daughter, Corina Wood and her fiancé Randy Bernier. He was born into a very large family of three sisters and three brothers, Harold Wood (Vicky), Robert Wood, Donald Wood (Debbie), Annie Knapp, Shirley Renaud (Mike) and Leslie Wood; two grandchildren who are very special to him, Kiaya Wood Waterman and Chandler Bernier; two step-children, whom he raised and considered his own, Crystal Russell and her mate R.J. Friedland and Nicholas Russell and his fiancé Monica Vaidya; the Vaidya family whom he considered his family; many nieces, and nephews; his dog Briar, who was his best buddy; as well as many work buddies and neighbors he truly loved you all.
A Celebration of this epitome of a gentleman will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 12:00 pm at the VFW, 40 Black Mountain Rd, Brattleboro, VT 05301. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Windham County Humane Society, 916 W River Rd, Brattleboro, VT 05301.
