William J.R. Hargrave

Hargrave, William (Bill) J. R., age 91, of Valrico, Florida passed away on Friday, August 3, 2012. He lived in Valrico for 6 years after a move from Tucson, Arizona. Bill was a retired Navy Commander who served in both World War II and the Korean War. He retired from Perkin-Elmer Corporation in 1983 after 37 years of service. Bill was a member of Nativity Catholic Church where he was a devoted member of the choir. He loved to sing and over the years shared his love of music by participating in barbershop quartets and community choirs. He was an active member of Rotary International for many years and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was also a former member of the Free and Accepted Masons. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Ann; his son David; three daughters: Joanne Traughber, Sharon Hargrave and Judy Hargrave-Boyd; two grandchildren: Jennifer Huntsman and John Larkin; and three great-grandchildren: Zachary and Dylan Huntsman, and Conor Larkin. Services with full military honors will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to LifePath Hospice (www.chaptershealth.org).
