William L. Haney Jr.

William L. Haney Jr., 76, of Valrico passed away peacefully on Friday, August 31, 2012. He was born on October 22, 1935 to William L. and Mable James Haney in Boston, Massachusetts. William was a First Sergeant in the U.S. Army and retired after 22 years of service. He was a member of Nativity Catholic Church as well as an artist and enjoyed such hobbies as coin and stamp collecting. He is preceded in death by his first wife of 38 years; Priscilla Haney. Survivors include his wife of 10 years; Ann Haney, sons; Donald Haney of New Hampshire, Russell Haney of Tampa, FL, daughter; Jo-Ann Haney Bird (Chuck) of Riverview, FL, step-sons; Michael Brigandi (Faith) of Syracuse, NY, Richard Brigandi (Amy) of Lakeland, FL, step-daughters; Ann Marie Shavalier (Robert) of Syracuse, NY, Carla Jordan (Casey) of Syracuse, NY, brother; George “Butch” Haney of New Hampshire, sister; Joan Noonan (Robert) of Westboro, MA and several step-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in William’s honor to a fund supporting Parkinson’s Disease or ALS. Visitation will be held at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, September 21, 2012 at 10:00 AM with funeral service to immediately follow at 11:00 AM. William’s final resting place will be at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but will live on forever in their hearts and memories.
