Tom enjoyed a life full of service and devotion to God, his country and family. A Naval Veteran of World War II, Tom served in both the European and Pacific Theaters. After the war, Tom attended and graduated from Penn State University. He worked primarily in food manufacturing and distribution during his career, eventually retiring from Crider Foods in 1991. Tom was a devoted member of the Brandon Seventh-Day Adventist church where he spent his retirement volunteering. He served as an Elder of the Brandon Seventh-Day Adventist church, gave Bible studies, and served on various committees. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who awaits Jesus’ imminent return.
Tom was married to the love of his life, Jean, for 57 years whom he greatly missed after her passing in 2022. Together they had three children Thomas (Melora) Grattan, Mary (Mike) Smith, Gwen (John) Jacobs and six grandchildren, Allen Rogers, Allison Rogers, Jordan Jacobs, Mavery Grattan, Joshua Jacobs, and Grace Jacobs.
In addition to his parents and wife, Tom was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Reek and siblings; Jim Grattan, Leo Grattan, Mae Connors, Dorothy Marcille, Patricia Smith, Joanne Baer, and Peggy Jones.
A visitation for Tom will be held on Monday, December 11, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at the Brandon Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 1221 Victoria Street, Brandon, 33510 followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. The burial will be at 1:30 PM at the Florida National Cemetery, 6502 S. W. 102nd Ave. Bushnell, FL 33513.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Tom’s honor to the Building Fund at the Brandon SDA Church.
