Mr. Searcy graduated from Plant City High School, graduated Florida Southern College, earning a BS Degree in Elementary Education, and also graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Master’s Degree in Education. Bob served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict as an MP. He dedicated his life to serving His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ by serving others. He spent over two decades teaching special needs children at Lavoy Elementary School, Tampa, Florida. He also served as a Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America. After he retired from teaching, he volunteered for elder service, where he would visit the elderly in nursing homes; he was the pianist for his church, Alafia Baptist Church, Lithia, FL, where he was a member; and he often played the piano in assisted living homes.
He is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth J. Searcy, Cynthia M. Martin and Norma Delavina; son, The Rev. Dr. Steve (Adanna) McGee; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister Carolyn Moss, wife, Elsie Searcy; daughter, Iris Allen, and son, Officer Frank L. Searcy.
A visitation for Robert will be held Thursday, May 5, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral at 12:00 p.m., Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home, 2323 West Brandon Blvd, Brandon, Florida 33511. The entombment will be held at 1:00 p.m., Hillsboro Memorial Gardens, 2323 West Brandon Blvd, Brandon, Florida 33511.
