Bob was born on August 19, 1944 to Ray and Rhoda Seldon in Daytona Beach, Florida. Bob attended Mainland High School and played the trombone in the school's marching band. He even played in the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade in New York City!
After graduating from Mainland High School in Daytona, Bob went on to get his Bachelor’s degree. After graduation, Bob was accepted to Medical school, Veterinary school and Law school. Many people have expressed that he was one of the smartest people they knew.
Before deciding on his post graduate work, Bob joined the Navy. He was selected for Officer Candidate School in Maryland and went on to serve two years on the rivers in Vietnam before returning to Florida to get his Doctoral of Jurisprudence at the University of Florida School of Law.
He started and ended his successful career at Macfarlane Ferguson & McMullen of Tampa, Florida where he was known for his friendly competition, always rallying for his favorite sports teams (GO GATORS!!), his good sense of humor and positive spirit. After over 45 years at the firm, Bob made several friends and had many people who cared about him.
In 1976, he married the love of his life, Patricia Orendorf and they were married for 45 years. Together, they shared their love of horses and ranching, wildlife (they raised several orphaned baby animals they found at the ranch), travel and family.
They had a large extended family and enjoyed throwing parties where Bob often dressed in outrageous costumes fondly remembered by all. A favorite memory was the Christmas Bob dressed as Santa and dressed his favorite horse, Sox as a reindeer to deliver gifts to the kids of the family. He was known for whistling and singing everywhere he went and his love for blow up holiday decorations in his front yard.
He loved making everyone happy and took his family on many memorable trips including sailing and boating around the waters of Tampa Bay and Sanibel Island, Florida, snow skiing out West and countless mountain trips to both Gatlinburg, TN and Helen, GA.
Bob never did retire. He always said that practicing law and working the family ranch gave him purpose and he never could sit still. He continued to practice law and was still working the family ranch every weekend up until February, 2022.
Bob was predeceased by Patricia Cochran. He is survived by daughter, Shannon Dailey of Davie, Florida and son, Brian Cochran of Brooksville, Florida, and stepson Mark Bodden as well as their spouses and thirteen grandchildren.
We love you dad and promise to carry on your legacy and carry you with us always.
