Norman Moore Conaty

Norman Conaty was born August 31, 1937, in Bay City, Michigan to William Conaty and Margaret Conaty Amerling. The family moved to Florida in 1947. Norman (Mickey as his family calls him) graduated from Brandon High School in 1955. He joined the U.S. Army in 1956 and spent eighteen months in Korea. In December 1957 he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Lou Fredd. In 1961 Norman began work with at the City of Tampa Sanitation Department as a bulldozer operator. He worked his way up to become the Director of Sanitation Department in 1972. During his tenure with the City of Tampa he was President of the American Public Works Association, Florida Chapter. He remained Director until 1978 when he and his brother, Don began Expert Services Recycling.

Norman is survived by his bride of over 66 years, Mary Lou Fredd Conaty. Four children, Cindy Glenn (Russ), Greg Conaty (Annette), Heidi Weeks (James) and Steve Conaty (Heather.) Seven grandchildren, James C Weeks, Derek Conaty, Caitlin Glenn, Jessica Conaty (Travis Kundivich), Emily Conaty (Nick Dertinger), Jacob Conaty (Taytum Jones) and Allison Conaty (Connor Nickel.) Brothers, Donald Conaty (Susanne), Hayes Conaty (Florida), Russell Amerling (Pat) and Carl Amerling (Susie.) Many cherished nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces. He is predeceased by his parents William Conaty, Margaret Amerling and Frank Amerling and his sister, Gloria Brock.

Norman and Mary Lou have travelled all fifty U.S. states and several European countries. They loved to camp and travel.

To the love of my life, these sixty-six years have been a blessing in so many ways. I miss you and always will miss you, until we meet again. Love you.

In Lieu of Flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Wreaths Across America or Gulfside Hospice.

A visitation for Norman will be held Saturday, June 8, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home, 2323 West Brandon Blvd, Brandon, FL 33511. A funeral service will occur Saturday, June 8, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 2323 West Brandon Blvd, Brandon, FL 33511. A reception will occur Saturday, June 8, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 2323 West Brandon Blvd, Brandon, FL 33511. A graveside service will occur Saturday, June 8, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM, 2323 West Brandon Blvd, Brandon, FL 33511.
