I may have only worked with Kurt at Bealls for a short period of time, but his laugh, his smile, his banter with his coworkers, his meaningful conversations with vendors, his jovial ways, and his passion for everything he did will stay with me forever.  I learned about fishing, trail, and hunting product thanks to him.  He touched so many people's lives, and we were all so privileged to know him.

While I never worked directly with Kurt at Bealls, I only heard great things about him as a person and knew he was a very talented buyer.  The impression he made on those who knew him and his infectious smile, will be treasured with lasting memories.

We met the Williams family about 34 years ago when we moved into the house almost across from them in Jamaica. We became very close friends and even though they emigrated to Florida so many years ago, we have stayed in touch. Our children used to play “Marco Polo” in the Williams’ swimming pool with Kurt and his cousins and despite being a bit older than them, he entertained them and made them feel welcome in his home. He was a happy youngster and always had a beautiful smile for everyone. 
Kurt will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched but we know he is with the angels in heaven, smiling that beautiful smile.

It was always a pleasure to work with Kurt.  He had an infectious laugh that I will never forget.  Kurt was one special person and will be truly missed.  My deepest condolences to his family.  

Kurt was such a cool and kind guy to be around. I always enjoyed watching him crush it on the tennis courts.  We have lost one of our champions on the court and in life.

I haven't known Kurt that long but it feels like a lifetime. His kindness and gentle ways touched my heart. We shared a wall and then an aisle and he always found time to check in on me and to share his wisdom. I will never look at camouflage prints the same way. Kurt and I shared a love for food although he liked to have multiple lunches. He will truly be missed. My deepest sympathies to his family. 

It is very hard to express my feelings of Kurt not being here - both as a friend and business teammate.  So many memories together in the office as well as our travels together.  His enjoyment of speaking to everyone - his voice was a constant calming sound around me (usually making me laugh). 
 How we all loved to hear the stories and see pictures of his big catches after a fishing trip; or hear about his conquests in the tennis tournaments!  The very deepest condolences to Kurt's family.  A tremendous loss to us all.

I have known Kurt for several years, as we worked together at Bealls.  He was always quick to help with vendor issues, making sure we did the right thing for Bealls and the vendor.  We knew we could always count on him.  Kurt always had a smile on his face, it was always such a joy to work with him.  I can't believe he is gone but I know he is in Heaven, with a smile on his face.

Kurt was my friend, we first met through our vendor relationship, 12 years ago, we hit it off right away. He was one of the kindest, most caring persons I have ever known. This is still so unreal to me.  Kurt and I had a very special bond! He was an AMAZING friend!  He always called to ask how I was doing and to make sure I was ok!  Even if I didn’t answer the phone he would leave a message! I’m so thankful that I still have those messages and thousands of texts that date back years!  Literally the last text he sent me while “HE” was in the hospital was “How are you feeling?”! That is who he was….so loving and caring with a heart of GOLD! I know for a fact that if he could call me right now he would to make sure I was ok!

Kurt was a business colleague that quickly evolved to a friendship .     We spent many meetings in our NY showroom bickering back and forth only to be resolved by a extra large black and white cookie.     He was an  humble and  honest business partner,  a very good negotiator  that at the end of the day made deals that  neither one of us were happy with.      We used to play pool every Magic convention ,  I never let him forget when I  won.      The trick I learned was he got worst after every beer and somehow I got better.      I miss you already.

Reading these wonderful memories, Kurt touched many of us and we are so blessed for that.  I am grateful for the Thai dinner we shared when we talked about family and family gatherings for holidays (Thanksgiving/Christmas was coming up).  We talked about carrying on family traditions (from our grandparents and parents) and who would learn to cook our favorite traditional dishes.  He loved that (I notice a theme in our memories of Kurt and good food) and loved his family.  Kurt with his kind soul, genuine smile, and smiling eyes will never be forgotten.  Thank you Kurt for blessing us.

I barely have the words to express how deeply I miss my dear buddy,Kurt. His smile....his laugh...his sense of humor. How fondly I will look back on those December dinners at Serendipity and the walk back to the Metro checking out all the holiday windows. I knew Kirk from Bealls. I never actually worked with him directly but was lucky enough to travel with him to Asia.  Loved watching him negotiate for every nickel in his own smooth way! He was an excellent buyer , mentor and a true gentleman. He was the only guy with a team of women on that trip to Asia and he made sure we were all fed and safe as we walked the streets of Bangkok and Shanghai. I will miss his beautiful smile and soul. Rest In Peace.

I’m so saddened by this loss. So many fond memories of traveling overseas with Kurt and the Bealls team. The partners overseas would always love to take Kurt for lunch or dinner because he was never afraid to try any dish so they knew they wouldn’t have to eat at any American style restaurant .  My colleague Alan would say  “ I can’t wait for Kurt to get here so we could go out for Dim Sum” .

I worked with Kurt for a short time at Bealls. When I joined his area he helped and supported me above and beyond of what he was asked. He made me laugh so hard when he would talk about his love for food and his laugh was contagious. Kurt always had a smile on his face, he was the kind of person you were happy to see. It was truly a pleasure to know Kurt.  We started as buyer / vendor many years ago and that soon became a friendship that lasted regardless of business ups and downs.  My daughter and grandchildren had the pleasure of meeting him and would always ask "how is Kurt".  If my wife would hear his voice when we were on the phone, she would always ask to put him on speaker and they would speak fo some time.
Most of all, he had great family values and always spoke in glowing terms about his whole family.
We both enjoyed our wine and I would like everyone to raise a glass in his memory.

I was fortunate to meet Kurt 20 years ago through Westchase tennis in Tampa and was blessed to play doubles with him for many years.  From the moment I met Kurt I knew he was one-of-a-kind special with an unbelievable fun loving spirit.  He was a phenomenal tennis player with a magical one handed backhand who left an indelible mark on the tennis community, winning many tournaments and championships.  He was always humble, good natured, and displayed complete sportsmanship.  As good as Kurt was on the tennis court, he was even better as a friend, person and role model.  He was the best of all of us and all of our lives were so much much brighter and better with Kurt in it. You could not ask for a better friend. My whole family loved having Kurt over as he was always very warm and inclusive to my wife and daughters. 

His friends, colleagues, neighbors, and the Tampa tennis community will miss him greatly and we extend our deepest sympathies to his lovely family.

Words cannot explain the deep sorrow I feel. The pain that only the soul feels when you have made a special bond and now what? The silence. Kurt was an Amazing next door neighbor but even more importantly a great friend. He was always smiling and available to help you at the drop of a dime! This picture on his obituary is how I always saw him and will always remember him. He was really a great person…Gone way too soon!!!

I love this man and cannot believe he left us so soon and so suddenly.  Please take comfort knowing you have an angel watching over you all now.   What matters is not so much the things he accomplished but more of the way he made us feel.   That is what we will always remember and carry with us.   I miss him terribly  but know he is somehow with us still.  

My condolences to Kurt's Family.  I got to know Kurt through working at Bealls Outlet.  He was such a lovely soul with a laugh that was so irresistible, it would send you into giggles yourself.  An amazing buyer, a wonderful human being and a fierce friend.  Kurt will be missed so much.

My friend Kurt!  My heart aches to see you again.  One day I will, I am sure of that.  I could not ask for a better friend.  You are truly one of the good guys in life. There are no words – only big giant tears. ☹ As one of his key vendors, and having worked in our industry for over 35 years, he is the best buyer I have ever had the pleasure to work with and I really mean that.

The world has lost one of its brightest and sharpest merchandising minds. Over the years Kurt and I developed a great respect for one another and we each worked our hardest to further the interests of our companies and in so doing, we created programs that benefitted consumers all over this country. He always maintained a very professional demeanor in all of our interactions, and he had such an affable personality. Occasionally, when we were both out of town at a trade show, we would share a meal together and I really enjoyed those times together. All these interactions over so many years created a friendship, the memories of which that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.  I already miss his unique voice, his cajoling way, his frequent calls and emails looking for clothes for his customers to wear, but most of all his friendship.

In his memory, we will design and produce a style called Kurt. Working together with Bealls Outlet, we will send a % of the proceeds to a charity in his memory. May his memory be a blessing to all his friends and family. I love you Kurt.

Give  vendors  sweaty palms . Vendors  would laugh , swear, and often give in.!  You were one of a kind and I will miss our conversations  often on the way   out of the office at night

Kurt, my nephew, my godson, my friend, you left in a hurry without saying goodbye, but I know you will be gone for but just a short while because  God needs good people like you. We will meet again and continue to share our friendship in a better place,

Thanks to all for sharing their memories and insights.   Kurt’s  friends and teammates in the Tampa tennis community knew him as a fierce competitor and a loyal friend and teammate. His smile, kind demeanor and wicked backhand will be missed.  He was a champion both on and off the court.
