Keith was born on June 25th, 1970, at Lakenheath Air Force Base, England. He spent his first 3 years of life in England. Being an Air Force dependent, Keith had the opportunity to live in multiple states\cities and foreign countries. These included Grand Forks and Minot North Dakota, Spangdahlem Germany, Little Rock Arkansas and finally Seffner Florida so he could be closer to his family.
As a child, Keith enjoyed a variety of sports including baseball, football and soccer. He was also a Cub Scout and a Boy Scout. As an adult he had many hobbies and interests like kayaking, hiking, and camping. Keith also enjoyed designing and building websites and doing family genealogy research. He also was very proud of his Irish heritage and loved playing Irish music and learning more about Ireland and Irish history. Keith was fortunate to visit the Emerald Isle twice during his life.
After High School, Keith joined the Army National Guard. He proudly served for eight years. He was activated and deployed full-time during Desert Storm. Keith was very patriotic and loved his time in the Army and serving the USA. He was also proud of his English heritage.
Keith is survived by his mother Barbara L. O’Brien, brother James W. O’Brien Jr. He is predeceased by his father James W. O’Brien. Additionally, Keith is survived by his uncle William B. (Ann) Newkirk, Jr., aunt Susan K. Klar, aunt Sherry (Douglas Henderson) Petrosky. He is also survived by his cousins Angela Newkirk, Melissa Evans, Megan (Collin Wear) Klar, Steven (Tracie) Petrosky, Patrick Petrosky. He also cherished his time with his nieces and nephews Evelyn Preble, Halle Evans, Nicholas Evans, Madeline Petrosky and many other cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A memorial service is tentatively scheduled for the Veterans Day holiday in November 2023. More details and updates will be provided as they are confirmed.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital in support of Veteran’s metal health research and issues.
