Joseph Vega Jr.

He was born on September 7th, 1939 to Jose Vega & Dora Morales in Havana, Cuba. He was a loving and devoted son, brother, husband, father and grandfather.

Joe served in the US Army National Guard for seven years and was honorably discharged.

Throughout his life he was employed with Tampa Wholesale Liquor Co., Air Freight Transfers, and Hillsborough Community College.

In June 1958, he met Martha Ann Rodriguez, and they wed on September 6th, 1959. They have two children J. Michael Vega and Annette Michelle Vega.

Upon retiring in 2008, Joe & Martha spent their time traveling on many cruises across the globe. Including visiting many European countries. Joe was very involved in the Nativity Catholic Church Food Bank. Where he volunteered many hours of service for the needy. Joe had a passion for sports he was a fanatical Tampa Bay Rays, Bucs, and University of Florida Gators fan. He was a caring and loving man that did not know a stranger. His family and friends will miss him dearly.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Martha Ann Vega, J. Michael Vega (Karen), Annette M. Vega, grandchildren Michael Vega (Autumn) and Kaitlyn Vega. Joe was preceded in death by his parents Jose Vega & Dora Morales, brother Roland Vega, and Sister-in-law and brother-in-law Sylvia and Henry Guerra.

A visitation for Joseph will be held Sunday, May 15, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home, 2323 West Brandon Blvd., Brandon, Florida 33511.

A funeral mass will occur Monday, May 16, 2022 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at Nativity Catholic Church, 705 E. Brandon Blvd., Brandon, Florida 33511.

A committal service including full military honors will occur Monday, May 16, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens, 2323 West Brandon Blvd., Brandon, Florida 33511.

A Celebration of Life Reception will be held following the graveside service, Monday, May 16, 2022 at Nativity Catholic School's Social Hall, 705 E Brandon Blvd., Brandon, Florida 33511 beginning at 3:00pm.
