It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved David "Dave" Lewis Hymes, age 61, of Riverview, Florida. Dave passed away at home on Sunday, October 6, 2024.

Born on April 2, 1963, in Inverness, Florida, to Rayford M. Hymes, Jr. and Beverly J. Hughes, Dave spent his early years growing up in Miami. In 1981, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and embarked on his first deployment to Germany. It was there that he met and married the love of his life, Yvonne, in 1983. Together, they shared 41 wonderful years of marriage, and in 1984, welcomed their son, Daniel R. Hymes, into the world.

After a distinguished nine-year career in the Army, Dave and his family moved to Tampa, where he pursued his passion for technology. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering from the University of South Florida, which led to a fulfilling career in software developing, programming and engineering. Dave’s work took him across the globe, and he embraced every challenge with dedication and skill.

Dave was not only a talented professional but also a devoted family man. He was a loving son, husband, father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, colleague, and friend. In his earlier years, he enjoyed playing competitive golf while serving in the military, and as a father, he cherished his time coaching his son’s Little League baseball team. Dave had a deep love for the ocean, spending countless hours fishing, diving, lobstering, and boating.

Known for his vibrant personality and infectious sense of humor, Dave was often the life of the party. His presence brought joy to everyone around him, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

The family will hold a private Burial at Sea ceremony in Miami to honor his memory.
