He was born on April 29th, 1929 in Ha Dong, Vietnam and moved to Saigon after the country was divided by the Geneva Convention in 1954. He joined the South Vietnamese Army, rising to the rank of Major, and obtained his Law degree while in military service. He joined the Vietnamese Foreign Services in 1973 after retiring from the Army and shortly after was posted to the Vietnamese Embassy in South Korea. After the fall of Saigon in 1975, he emigrated to the United States and settled with his family in Tampa, Florida where he worked for the Environment Protection Agency until his retirement in 1994.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Thi Nga and their 10 children, Thi Son and husband Duc Thanh Nguyen, daughter Thanh Mai and husband Matthew Mifsud and their daughters Emily and Anna, and son Thanh Nhan, Cao Ngoc and wife Lan Anh, son Cao David and daughter Ngoc Nadia, Cao Quynh and wife Anh Tuyet, daughters Trang Kathleen and Khanh Emily, Cao Lam and wife Hai Tho Theresa, sons Cao Truong Thi Nathan, Cao Truong Quan Christopher, and daughter Nha Dan Olivia, Cao Minh and wife Truc Phuong, sons Khoi Michael and Tuan Steven, Kim Phuong and husband Hoa Vinh Mai, daughter Vivian, Cao Thai, Kim Lien and husband Stacy Thanh Pham and son Phi Phillip, Kim Loan and husband Francis Hung Le, daughter Kim Anh Nicole, sons Van Alexander and Nam Adam, Kim Yen and husband Huu Vi Nguyen, daughter Thao Elizabeth and son Chuong Justin.
The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at 9 am at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home, 2323 W Brandon Blvd, Brandon, FL 33511.
