Beverly was born on January 12, 1938, in Rockford, Illinois, to Floy Ward Fielder and Thaniel Fielder. Beverly moved with her parents many times across the country as a child. She graduated from Sonora Kentucky High School in 1955.
Beverly and her husband, Jack J. Jaggers, were married in 1955, and remained so for the rest of her life. They have 3 children, 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Beverly worked outside of the home for all her life. Though she held many office positions her most important job was working in the family insurance agency that she and Jack owned until their retirement.
Beverly was known for her high energy and quick wit. She could add numbers faster than a calculator! She loved games, especially Yahtzee! When a Yahtzee game was called, you can bet that Beverly was there and ready with her Ziplock bag of change. I dare say that she has many of her friends and families’ quarters in that bag.
Even though she began playing golf later in her life than some she had a “natural” swing and loved the game. And the game loved her! She played regularly on country club courses in Orlando, Feather Sound, and Valrico. She has two holes in one as a show of her prowess of the game. Not one, but two! Big Bertha was a loyal companion to Beverly on the golf course. When not playing golf, or board games Beverly enjoyed time with her family. Beverly and Jack traveled extensively over the years and often for the purpose of playing golf in cooler weather including Bermuda, Nova Scotia, California, and many others. In 2017 they were fortunate to travel to St. Andrews in Scotland and stood on the Swilcan Bridge where they had seen so many other golfers.
Beverly was preceded in death by both of her parents and her sister. She is survived by her husband, Jack; their children: Jay Steven Jaggers (Jeannean), Vicki J. Vawter (Michael) and Valerie L. Lietz (Robert). Also surviving are their four grandchildren: Nicholas F. Lietz, Angela L. Foreman (Dave), Jonathan D. Vawter (Tawnya), and Joshua J. D. Vawter. She also leaves behind four great grandchildren, Dylan Lietz, Nicole Lietz, James Vawter and Casey Vawter. Beverly was also preceded in death by her beloved black standard poodle, Bev’s Star of Capricorn, or Cappy as she was lovingly known to all.
A “Celebration of Life & Memorial Service” will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2022, from 12-1 (visitation) and 1-2 p.m. (service), at the Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home, 2323 West Brandon Blvd., Brandon, FL 33511. Family and friends are invited to come and share fond memories and stories.
