She is predeceased by her husband Victor, with whom she will now re-unite in heaven. Daughter of the late Carmen and Beatrice Muscat. Sister of the late Father Alfred Muscat. Loving mother to Jeffrey and wife Judy (nee Ranger) and the grandchildren she cherished greatly, Natalie and Zachary.
Nelly was born on October 26, 1940 in Gzira, Malta and became a teacher in her early years in Malta. She loved Malta, and she loved teaching. Then she met the love of her life, and married Victor on October 22, 1961. They had one son, Jeffrey, born in 1962 before they immigrated to Canada to embark on their new life in 1963.
Once they settled in Canada, Nelly started working for a temporary agency until she found her final career in a position with CIBC. She loved working with her colleagues and made every client feel special. It was her work family and she enjoyed it immensely until eventually retiring to join her husband. They both enjoyed many years in retirement, surrounded by loving family, and many, many great friends. However, Nanna (and Nannu’s) pride and joy was their grandchildren, Natalie and Zachary. They loved nothing more than spending time and speaking with them.
Nelly was always polite and courteous, always considerate of circumstance. She was also very caring, attentive, thoughtful and giving. She loved God and that reflected in her commitment to the Church. After retiring Nelly also enjoyed several years volunteering at St. John Fisher working with Father Grima and Irene Byrne. She adored spending time with her friends at the mall, or at the Malta Band Club. She loved to dance, play cards and read books – or watch her soap opera ‘Days of our Lives’.
She loved staying in touch with distant family and friends (through many social media platforms) and took a genuine interest in everyone around her or around the world. She prayed for all of us all the time. She loved us all unconditionally.
‘She was the nicest person I have ever met, she was ‘simply the best’.
