Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, surrounded by love at the Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice in Kanata, ON. Born on August 1, 1931, he was predeceased and is now reunited with his wife of 55 years (Arlene), his daughter (Stella), grandchild (Sarah), and his brothers and sister. He is survived by his loving children (Mike, Linda and John), nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and partner (Adele Morris). Uncle Dougie also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews. He will be missed for the constant smile on his face, his sense of humour, and gentle manor. A true officer and a gentleman. He loved the sea. However, nothing was stronger than the love he had for his family. Doug was an honest, caring and generous man that simply made the world a better place. We are grateful for having such a man in our lives as a role model and that he was able to live a long and full life. A special thank you to Dr. Nicola Fellegi and the amazing staff of Ruddy-Shenkman for their compassion and support for Doug and his family. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Doug's honour to the Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice.
