Warren was a Combat Medic and part of the American 85th Combat Infantry Division in Italy during 1944 and 1945 until the war ended. He received several Medals of Honor but the Bronze Star Citation awarded by President Kennedy was the one he was most proud.
Warren graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Marketing and Broadcasting. He was a Staff Announcer at five television stations in Lake Charles, LA; Roswell, NM; Evansville, IN; Palm Beach and Miami, FL. He later went on to found his own company, Bullis Advertising, Inc. specializing in TV and Radio Broadcasting where he wrote, produced and announced Television and Radio spots. Prior to retirement, he worked for the Broward County Transit Authority as Advertising Director.
Warren and Adele were married on July 24, 1984 and lived in North Dade County. In 1991, they relocated to Bainbridge Island, Washington and were actively involved in the North Kitsap Baptist Church and the Gideon Foundation. Warren and Adele lived on a beautiful golf course at the 5th hole and he could walk out the back door and hit a few whenever he liked. He was a proud and doting grandfather who shared the accomplishments of Steve, Laura, Paul and Eric to anyone who would listen. He introduced Paul and Eric to golf, piano, and Skip Bo. Warren and Adele returned to Bradenton in 2011 and have enjoyed living at Freedom Village since 2014.
To family, Warren was known as Padj, Uncle Padj or Pops and to everyone, a Gentleman. Warren was a warm and caring man, who loved the Lord and his family deeply. Warren’s fun- loving and friendly personality made him popular with everyone he met. He was a story teller, musician and singer; always the entertainer. He sang with the University of Miami’s Big Band. He taught himself to play the piano and wrote a screen play and television mini-series called Bootstraps.
He is survived by “the love of his life” wife Adele (Gay) Bullis, Daughter Suzanne Godwin (Ray Godwin), Daughter Linda De Barros (Rick De Barros), Grandchildren Steve Godwin (Ben Wash), Laura Godwin Dempsey (Tom Dempsey), Paul De Barros (Michelle Seidman) and Eric De Barros; Nieces and Nephews, Dianne Garrison Gillispie, Linda Garrison Baumgardner, Susan Garrison Beaven, Don Garrison, Roger Warren Garrison, Michael Bullis, and Jerry Bullis.
He is preceded in death by…Father, James Warren Bullis; Mother, Anna Collins Bullis; Brother, Jack Bullis and Sister, Billie Garrison.
Military Service will be held on August 4, 2017 at 3:00 pm Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota FL 34241.
