Despite of losing a husband and son to war, Norma was a deeply patriotic woman. She supported her country during WW2 by working at the Pharis Tire Co. in Newark, Ohio and was proud of her and her families’ contribution to our country’s freedom. In 1951 she relocated to Florida and was among the first to reside in Trailer Estates. Norma was an active member of Bradenton Church of Christ. In her spare time she gardened and grew orange trees. Norma will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and as a person who “never met a stranger”; she met all with warmth and friendship.
She is survived by sons, Phillip Nye and wife Janie, Mark Nye and wife Theresa; as well as grandchildren, Nathan Nye, Katie Nye, Tara Nye, and Jacob Nye.
She is preceded in death by first husband Harold Wilson, whom she lost in 1951 during the Korean War; and son, Stanley, whom she lost in 1967 during the Vietnam War. Both men were decorated war heroes. Mrs. Nye is also is also preceded in death by second husband, Arthur K. Nye, whom was a combat veteran of WW2.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Norma L. Nye are suggested to the Bradenton Church of Christ
