Mark will be missed by so many that knew him through his acts of support and his knowledge of the archaeological and paleontological past of our area. Always cheerful and kind, he will be remembered.

Mark was the grower for our family  nurseries in the 80's and early 90's. During that period Mark along with Eloise, Faith, Nancy, The Green girls, Elsa, and many others grew everything from African Violets to Oak Trees. It's very likely there has never been (and never will be) a nursery in Florida, or anywhere for that matter, that grew a more diverse assortment of plants and through it all Marks steady hand directed the work. 

Dutch bulbs from Europe, Asiatic and Rubrum Lillies from Northern California, Amaryillis from South Africa, Flowering shade trees, Palms, and landscape shrubs from every continent, Bedding Plants (annuals), Hybrid Grafted Hibiscus, Easter Lillies and the list goes on and on. 

It took someone with a special gift and love of horticulture to make all that work and Mark had that special gift.

When my great grand father EN Reasoner passed away, Dr. Murphry then the President of the University of Florida wrote that E.N. Reasoner's spirt would never die in Florida because too much of his work had taken root in our soil. I believe the same can be said for Mark H. Burnett.

Rest in Peace Mark, you've earned it!

Mark was a member of the class of 1961.  He didn't graduate with us but all remember him fondly.  We are sorry for your loss.

My heart felt condolence to the Burnett family. Mark will be greatly missed by all his Walgreen's family.

My sincere sympathy to Jo, Mike and the entire Burnett family. I will always think of him fondly and remember his great sense of humor, love of his nursery, art and of course his collection of artifacts.

Mark throughout his entire life contributed greatly to the preservation of Florida's Past through his love of Florida archaeology and paleontology. He will be constantly remembered by many who cheerished his unselfish love and pursuit in documenting and preserving Florida's elusive past.

Mark's Family,

   Mark and I were good friends growing up in West Bradenton. I have been to his parents home on the river many times and shared lots of laughs and good times in our teens through our 20s. During my college years I worked with Mark during the summer on his dads cattle ranch. Over the years I left Bradenton to work and we each built new lives. I remember Mark as a fun loving and great friend who was always there to share a story and support all his friends in whatever they undertook.  His friendship will be missed and my thoughts and prayers are with you all .
