Lucille Ida Pedone, age 98 passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 11, 2024. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on June 21, 1926, to Howard and Diana Lyons. They lived in Wyandanch, NY for many years where she grew up with her siblings Thelma and Howard Jr. She often talked about all the changes that she experienced in her lifetime, including living through the depression.
Lucille was married for just over 58 years to Vito (Vic) Pedone until his passing in 2007. She was a loving mother and is survived by her children Victor Pedone (Barbara), Richard Pedone (Liz) and Luanne Pedone-Brown. She was the proud grandmother to Victor, Pamela, and Rachel. She was also a great grandmother and a great-great grandmother. A beloved Aunt to many nieces and nephews and had stepped in as a mother, a grand and great-mother figure for sister’s family (Alfred Scheier and Linda Sinclair) after Thelma’s passing in 1973.
Before Lucille and Vic moving to Bradenton FL in 1981 from Islip, NY, she worked as an Executive Assistant for Skills Unlimited in Oakdale, NY. After moving she continued her work as an Executive Assistant for Tropicana, Inc in Bradenton FL. In her retirement years she traveled with Vic to see her children and grandchildren in Florida, New York, and Michigan, they took a few cruises, bowled, and of course played Bingo has often as she could. She kept herself busy with crocheting quilts, towels and baby blankets for family and friends. She made sure we were all kept warm and wrapped up in her love.
She also enjoyed cooking and baking. At Christmas time she would bake traditional Italian cookies for days then send care packages to family and friends near and far. If you dropped by at dinner time, there was always enough food for you to sit down and enjoy. From chicken cutlets to corn beef and cabbage and everything in between, you never left her home hungry. Her favorite color was purple and anytime you saw her the chances were good that she would be wearing some shade of her signature color.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. St. Jude was one of her favorite saints and one of many she prayed to everyday as a devoted Catholic.
