Jim was born on November 28, 1944, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was the son to the late Olden and Josephine Biggart. Jim attended Allegheny High School in Pittsburgh. He graduated from Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio with a bachelor’s degree in 1967. Jim was the President of the Excelsior Men’s Society while at Heidelberg University and played football and basketball there.
Jim was the Director of Marketing and Sales for many retirement communities in Florida. He later became an insurance agent in Venice for 25 years. The current agency is still run by his family, Biggart Channing Insurance.
Jim is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marilyn Gamrot Biggart, his daughter, Kristen Biggart Channing, her husband, Craig, and grandson, Brandt of Sarasota, Florida. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Biggart (Judy) of Venice, Fl., his brother-in-law, Richard Gamrot (MaryLou) of Bradenton, FL., his brother-in-law, Ronald Gamrot (MaryAnn) of Palmetto FL., and many nieces and nephews.
Jim enjoyed tennis, traveling, cruising, telling stories, watching sports, his cats and dogs and being with his family.
Jim was a wonderful person and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Jim will be laid to rest with honors at Sarasota National Cemetery on Clark Road on August 4, 2022, at 10am.
