John Daniel Young

Born in Hamburg, PA, he was the son of the late John W. and Rosetta A. (Miller) Young.

John attended Kutztown Teachers College and Stanford University. Later, he graduated from Troy State College with a Bachelor’s Degree in History.

John was a Lt. Colonel in the US Army. He served as a pilot in Vietnam and the Korean War. John was sales representative for Bell Helicopter. Also, he worked as a project manager for DynCorp in Germany.

He was a member of the Boyertown Rotary Club and the Elizabethtown, KY Masonic Lodge. John was member of the Boyertown Historical Society, where he served as its first president.

John is survived by his wife, Emma (Wagner) of almost 10 years (Married December 6, 2008); two daughters, Sharon A., wife of Joseph Hilgar of Hereford Township, and Karen E., wife of Howard Hickey of Kenosha, WI; and one son Bryon J. Young, husband of Mary (Rives) of Hereford Township. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Rachael (Hilgar) Lyall, Becky Hilgar, William Young, Daniel Young, and Ryan Hickey; and two great-grandsons, Carter and Blake Lyall. John was predeceased by a spouse, Ruth E. “Petey” (Peters), in 2006.

Funeral Services will be private at the convenience if the family.

Burial will be at Most Blessed Sacrament Church Cemetery in Bally.
