Daniel F. Stetler, Jr., 71, of Douglassville passed away surrounded by family in his home on Monday March 8, 2021. Danny was the loving husband of Sally (Ramsdell) Stetler. Their love was so real that they married twice; once in 1969 and again in 1997.
Born on March 25, 1949 in Pottstown, Daniel was a son of the late Verna V. (Brightbill) and Daniel F. Stetler, Sr. He was a 1967 graduate of Boyertown High School. In high school Danny participated in football, basketball and baseball. He also played for Boyertown Legion baseball. Following high school Danny continued his academic and athletic endeavors at Massanutten Military Academy for a post graduate year. Dan then attended and played football at Virginia Tech. He was a true and loyal “Hokie” fan.
Working in banking for most of his professional life, Daniel last worked in collections for National Penn Bank. Previously he had worked for Continental and Mid Atlantic Banks.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Pottstown.
Danny was always a sports enthusiast. In his younger years he played baseball for Gabelsville Owls, adult softball and participated in golf leagues. Dan also was a devoted coach in the Boyertown Optimist Midget/Mite football program for more than twenty years. Danny made some of his closest life-long friends through his involvement in sports. When Dan no longer could participate in sports, he enjoyed watching PGA golf, the Eagles, the Phillies and especially college football.
Dan greatly enjoyed spending time with family and friends; there were many poker games with the guys, and family get-togethers playing pinochle. Danny enjoyed being the grill master and had a real knack for smoking the best BBQ ribs.
In addition to his wife, Daniel is survived by his son Christopher D. Stetler, and step-daughters Carrie (Daniel) Berg of Gilbertsville and Kelsy (Michael) Koch of Wyomissing. Dan is survived by his grandchildren, Reese Stetler and Daniel Berg III, who brought him a tremendous amount of joy and happiness. He is also survived by his sister Kathryn (Leif) Malmberg, and several nieces and nephews. Dan was predeceased by his brother Ronald (Nancy) Stetler.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to First Presbyterian Church, 750 N. Evans St., Pottstown PA 19464.
